Once ranked #2 on The Source magazine’s Power 30 list, DJ Kelly G is a Chicago producer and remixer best known for his chart topping smashes “Never Gonna Let You Go” with Tina Moore and “Go Down Moses” with Steve “Silk” Hurley.
With over 15 years in Music Programming, Development and Marketing for various companies including Clear Channel, Viacom and Sean “P-Diddy” Combs’ REVOLT TV, Kelly G. has honed a unique talent of identifying up and coming superstars that ultimately prove to be profitable on various linear and digital platforms through an increase in streaming, record and ticket sales as well as overall brand recognition. Music powerhouses like Kanye West, John Legend, Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, and Drake were given their first national exposure through Kelly G.’s solid programming strategy and passion for music.
Kelly G developed his trend setting programming, production and DJ skills while working in the premiere Chicago dance clubs which led him to a top position at city’s Number One legendary radio station, WGCI. While at WGCI, Kelly G learned the ways of identifying and playing the hits from legendary program director Elroy Smith. While at the station he began doing productions for many of the radio shows that included talent like Steve Harvey, George Wallace, Tom Joyner and Doug Banks.
While on the radio, Kelly G garnered the attention of Chicago House Legends Steve ”Silk” Hurley and Terry Hunter and begin doing remixes and production for major artists including Ne Yo, India.Arie, Mary J. Blige, Janet Jackson, Brandy, Faith Evans, Tina Moore and countless others. In addition to his work remixing the songs of today’s top artists, Kelly G can be seen producing and scoring tracks for movies like Phunny Business and DJing exclusive events the world over.
While at BET, Kelly G. developed and launched new music initiatives like BET Music Matters which leveraged the networks various platforms like 106 & Park and BET Awards to help launch the careers of a new generation of superstars including Drake, Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Miguel and Mali Music. Kelly has also established himself as a premiere programmer and talent booker for various concerts and festivals including SXSW, A3C Hip Hop Festival and BET Experience. He developed and launched the first national sold out concert tours for artists including Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Marsha Ambrosius, K. Michelle and Trey Songz. On the festival side he has leveraged his deep industry relationships to book many acts including Beyonce, Outkast, T.I., Big Sean, and Melanie Fiona.
